Fayum Mummy Portraits - What did Egyptians look like from 30 BC to the 3rd century?

The Fayum mummies, also known as the Faiyum Portraits, are a series of mummy portraits from Roman Egypt that were discovered in the Faiyum region of Egypt. These portraits were painted on wood panel or linen and attached to the mummy's wrappings. Genetic analysis of the Fayum mummies has shown that they are closely related to the ancient Egyptians. Studies have found that the Fayum mummies have a high degree of genetic continuity with the ancient Egyptians, with significant genetic overlap between the two groups. This suggests that the population of the Fayum region in Roman times was largely descended from the ancient Egyptians.
