25,000 - 30,000 Georgian Soldiers were fighting on the German side in the World War II against the Soviet union, as in their opinion, Soviet Union occupied their state, their homeland - Democratic republic of Georgia in 1921. They had contract with Hitler, that if Nazis win, Georgia would be independent. No one knows what would happen then, but they thought, that they fought for their national interests. Maybe they were wrong,when they believed it, maybe they were right, but they were not betrayers of Georgia. They were just on the wrong side of History. That was their mistake.
